Duval County Schools Acceleration Programs Recruitment Events

High School Acceleration Programs are available in every Duval County public high school to provide advanced educational opportunities to students throughout the county. Students are urged to review the program offerings and attend one or more information session or open house to learn more about enrollment and how the programs can better prepare students for post-secondary education.

During the presentation portion of the monthly meeting of the Duval County School Board, Superintendent Ed Pratt-Dannals and Board members recognized a community partner, a school and a business partner for their outstanding accomplishments and contributions to Duval County Public Schools:

Episcopal High School Opens Two New Academic Halls

Episcopal High School has completed the first phase of its campus master plan expansion project by opening the school’s two new $4 million academic halls. Coinciding with the Christian holiday Epiphany, a dedication ceremony for Parks and Lastinger Halls was held today complete with a student procession, choral performances and tours of the new facilities.

High School Students: Time to Enter Manatee Art Contest

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) invites high school art students across the state to participate in a contest to create a piece of manatee artwork that will be used on the 2011-2012 manatee decal.

Students in grades 9-12 in Florida should coordinate with their school’s art teacher to submit the artwork, because each school may submit no more than five entries. Home-schooled students also are eligible to enter the contest. Contest details and forms are available online at

Magnet Mania & More Rescheduled

What:             Magnet Mania & More has been rescheduled to January 22, 2011, originally scheduled for January 8, 2011 at the Jacksonville Fairgrounds.  Join Duval County Public Schools for an interactive, fun-filled and informational expo detailing magnet programs and school choice options for the 2011-2012 school year.
