Police searching for red sedan in connection with shooting

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Police responded to reports of shots fired at a an Arlington gas station Friday evening.

A call came into the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reporting shots fired at the BP gas station at the corner of Atlantic Boulevard and Live Oak Drive around 6:30 p.m., according to JSO Sgt. Craig Waldrup.

When police arrived on scene they found a man dead in the parking lot with multiple gunshot wounds, Waldrup detailed.

Police are now reaching out to businesses surrounding the BP for surveillance video that may lead them to the men seen driving a red or maroon colored small sedan. Witnesses said the red car left the BP in a hurry right after the shooting.

Police believe some sort of altercation occurred between the victim and the suspect, shots were fired and it happened fast. The red sedan is believed to be a Toyota Corolla or a Scion, with a spoiler, possibly with temporary tags and was last seen speeding down Live Oak Drive.

The victim has not been identified at this point in the investigation and a search is underway for the suspect vehicle.
