Tragic Events
There are tragic stories of young people like 15 year old
Phoebe Prince who have taken their lives because of bullying.
Even Iain Steele a 15 year old that lived in Chicago and had
a promising future in high school and Carl Walker-Hoover 11
years old, even though he was a Boy Scout and football player.
The Springfield, Mass., young man was ruthlessly teased and
harassed. He was even active in his church, but was affected
by bullying to the point where he committed suicide.

It is time once again to lace up the jingle bells on your running shoes and get ready for the 15th Annual Festival of Lights 5k and 1 Mile Family Fun Run.  The Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals event will take place in San Marco Square on Saturday, Decemeber 10, 2011 beginning with the Fun Run at 5:30 PM followed by the 5k at 6:00 PM.

Bullying A Violation of Human Rights

October is Bullying Prevention Month;
the increase of bullying in schools, communities,
neighborhoods, and even churches has continued
to show how bullying is affecting lives. The growing
awareness across the country even in political circles
creates a mindset that Bullying is a violation of
Human Rights to those being threatened, harassed
and violated with words and actions, threats and
intimidations.

The United Nations Preamble to the Universal Declaration
of Human Rights (1948) states "Whereas it is essential,
if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last
resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that
human rights should be protected by the rule of law."
These works concerning Human Rights originated from
the atrocities of both World Wars. It cannot be stated
that bullying is not a serious action when young people

If you are involved in a crash, who would you want police to notify?  In Florida, residents have  the ability to make that decision before an emergency strikes. To date, more than 5 million Floridians have registered their  emergency contacts with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles.  Gov. Rick Scott signed a proclamation to name Oct. 2 - 8, 2011, Register Your Emergency Contact Information Week in  Florida, and DHSMV is teaming up with the Division of Emergency Management to encourage all Floridians to register  their contacts.
