FNFCG CARAVAN to the Hodges Boulevard Community Garden

On Saturday, June 25th 2011, the Hodges Boulevard Community Garden opens its doors to the public from 9:00am to 12:00 pm for a fun morning of tours, tasting and teaching!  At 10:00 am, Mary Puckett from the Duval County Extension Office will conduct a free gardening class, "Vegetables that can Handle the Heat".  Local chefs will prepare a tasting from the garden using local fresh fruits and vegetables.  Friends of Northeast Florida Community Gardens invites you to come out and meet your gardening neighbors!

Hodges Boulevard Community Garden was created in August 2010 in a field behind Hodges Boulevard Presbyterian Church. The community garden’s plots are available to the public and gardeners include a local preschool and several Girl Scout Troops. The garden was created to bring the community together and provide a means for local families to spend time together while growing fresh fruits and vegetables.  Hodges Boulevard Community Garden is looking for new garden members – so if you’ve been thinking of getting growing, now is your chance!  Don’t miss out on this opportunity to tour the garden and apply for a gardening space.

FNFCG Caravans are conducted on a monthly basis with a different Community Garden in Northeast Florida as its destination to raise local awareness of the success and popularity of Community Gardens in Northeast Florida. There are more than 50 Community Gardens in Northeast Florida to choose from - come on out and get growing!
