Dogtober Celebration: Adopters Can Add a Dog or Puppy to Their Family for $25

The Jacksonville Humane Society (JHS), a non-profit animal welfare and education organization, is offering the opportunity to add a furry friend to the family for only $25 with its Dogtober Celebration.

In recognition of national Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog month, JHS has reduced the adoption fee for all dogs and puppies 4 months and older through Oct. 31.  All adoptable pets at JHS are spayed or neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, up-to-date on shots and treated for fleas, ticks and other parasites.

“Dogs can bring so much joy to your life,” said Denise Deisler, JHS executive director.  “Whether you are looking for a jogging partner, someone to snuggle with or a companion to add some excitement to your day, JHS has a dog for you.”

The standard adoption fee for dogs 6 months or older is $75. The standard adoption fee for dogs under 6 months is $125.

In addition to the $25 reduced adoption fee, adopters must purchase a city rabies license tag for $20 and six-month supply of heartworm prevention.  The cost of a six-month supply of heartworm prevention ranges from $21 to $30.  Adopters must also bring or purchase an approved leash and collar for their pet.  JHS sells approved leashes and collars in the shelter’s boutique.  Normal adoption criteria apply.
