Northeast Florida’s newest poker room, BestBet Jacksonville, features the work of Fisher Koppenhafer Architecture and Interior Design. The firm served as the architect and interior designer for the renovation of a former Garden Ridge, located on Monument Road across from the Regency Square Mall, into a new gaming complex.
“We are so pleased to be a part of this exciting adaptive reuse project, which is unlike any other entertainment development in Northeast Florida,” said Mike Koppenhafer, AIA and president of Fisher Koppenhafer Architecture and Interior Design. “The Jacksonville poker room showcases a fresh, colorful design with sophisticated materials. It is bringing a new, positive energy to Jacksonville.”
Owned and operated by Jacksonville Greyhound Racing, BestBet Jacksonville is the state’s largest poker room and the first in Florida to operate away from a track. It offers poker at all limits and simulcast wagering on greyhounds and thoroughbreds. The poker room has 70 tables, including a raised, high rollers area and a private VIP room. In addition, it includes a simulcast room rising 20-feet with 18 120-inch HD televisions. There is also a full service restaurant and bar.
The $7 million renovation transformed approximately 70,000 square feet of the 145,000-square-foot building into the poker room. The site offers a prime location with easy access to major roadways and copious parking.
The first major tournament at BestBet Jacksonville will be the World Poker Tournament Jacksonville BestBet Open. Scheduled for April 27 to May 2, the televised event will have a $1 million guaranteed prize pool. It is the main attraction of the “Jacksonville Spring Series,” beginning April 19, that features 14 tournaments as well as major cash games.
