Free Girls Hockey Clinic Nov. 7th

Jacksonville Ice & Sportsplex is pleased to annouce a Free Hockey Clinic, just for girls, on Novemeber 7, 2010 from 8 - 9 AM. USA Hockey, One Goal, and Statewide Amateur Hockey of Florida are coming together to sponsor this one day event in Jacksonville and throughout other cities in Florida.

Florida vs. Georgia Festivities at City Hall Pub

The Florida vs. Georgia Football Classic is almost here, and City Hall Pub is kicking off a week full of tailgating, live entertainment and nightlife.

Starting Tuesday, Oct. 26th, City Hall Pub welcomes tailgaters for a pre-party and after-party for the Carrie Underwood concert. Festivities kick-off at 5 p.m. with live music, grilling on the patio, and a home-style buffet.

The Civil War in Jacksonville Living History Weekend at Fort Caroline National Memorial

November 20-21, 2010 Jacksonville, Florida

The Timucuan Ecological and Historic Preserve will present a special event entitled “The Civil War in Jacksonville.”  This living history weekend will be held at Fort Caroline National Memorial and will highlight how the Civil War affected Jacksonville and Northeast Florida.  The event will be open and free to the public 10:00 am to 4:00 pm Saturday and 10:00 am to 2:00 pm Sunday.

The Civil War was fought in all southern states, including Florida, yet few people are aware of the battles and naval engagements that occurred in Jacksonville.  The Union Navy blockaded the St. Johns River and Union gunboats patrolled as far south as Green Cove Springs.

Jaguars trade safety Anthony Smith to Green Bay; sign cornerback Chevis Jackson

The Jacksonville Jaguars and the Green Bay Packers finalized a trade today with safety Anthony Smith going to the Packers in exchange for an undisclosed draft pick.  In addition, the Jaguars signed third-year cornerback Chevis Jackson.

City Encourages Participation in "Teal Monday" Events, Offers Free Parking at Select Facilities

Mayor John Peyton has proclaimed Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 as “Teal Monday” in support of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Monday Night Football game against divisional rivals, the Tennessee Titans. To create a fun environment for all to enjoy, the Jaguars and others will host festivities at various locations throughout downtown.
