To culminate a week filled with inaugural events, Mayor-Elect Alvin Brown would like to invite the community to attend the City’s first annual "5-on-5 Basketball Tournament.”

The event will be held on Saturday, July 2, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. at Ed Austin Regional Park at 11751 McCormick Road. The event is free and open to the public.

"This is a great way for athletes and non-athletes to celebrate Mayor-Elect Alvin Brown’s inauguration and join him for a fun-filled day," said event Co-Chair Marcus Ferrell.  "Everyone is invited to enjoy free popcorn, cotton candy, and snow cones. Other food will be available for purchase as well, with all proceeds benefiting the Police Athletic League.  For kids, activities include bounce houses, bubbles stations, and arts & crafts."

The tournament will consist of 16 adult teams (ages 18 & up), 8 minor teams (14-17), and 8 youth teams (10-13). Each team must consist of at least 2 female players. A maximum of 7 players is allowed.

All tournament participants will receive a commemorative t-shirt. The winning team will be awarded trophies.
