Driver Killed after Vehicle Burst into Flames | News

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- One person is dead after a fatal accident on 9A at Monument Road on the southside.

Lt. Bill Leeper said the Florida Highway Patrol responded to the accident just before 4 a.m when a vehicle drifted off the roadway and slammed into the concrete overpass.

Lt. Leeper told First Coast News the Ford burst into flames and the driver was killed. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

All southbound lanes of State Road 9A were blocked, along with the left northbound lane, for more than three hours following the crash. All lanes have since been reopened.
