JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- On Friday, a mother who found a baby girl who was abandoned in Arlington spoke about that experience.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is still searching for whoever left the baby girl outside a vacant apartment and why.
Cristessa Myers and her two young sons found the infant on the second floor of their apartment complex. Her 7-year-old first spotted the baby girl.
She said finding the baby is something you never expect.
"Them leaving it here, it was meant for someone like me to find and to turn it in, turn the baby in," she said.
Police say the baby girl, only a few hours old, was found at the Huntington Apartments off Monument Road on Wednesday.
She was wrapped in a towel, and was on the ground in front of a vacant unit. Doctors say the infant, who appears to be full-term, is now doing well.
If you have any information about this, you are asked to call First Coast Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS. You can remain anonymous and you may receive a cash reward.
