JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said both lanes of Townsend Boulevard are back open in the Arlington area after a vehicle slammed into a utility pole, knocking out power to the area.

The crash happened on Townsend Blvd. just north of Merrill Road before 3:30 a.m.

JEA said 1,921 homes were without power following the incident. Townsend Blvd. was closed for nearly 5 hours as JEA crews worked to fix the problem.

All power has since been restored to the Arlington area, according to JEA's website.

The condition of the driver that hit the pole is not known at this time. JSO is investigating the cause of the crash.
