JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Traffic Homicide investigators with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office are still on the scene of a crash involving a 14-year-old boy on his way to school.
According to Sgt. Donald Washington, around 6:45 a.m. the teen was crossing University Boulevard near Los Santos Way when a car hit him.
Officials said witnesses at the scene told them the oncoming traffic had a green light when the teen was crossing the crosswalk and was hit by the vehicle.
"At this time, it appears that the pedestrian failed to yield to the car that had the green light," explained Sgt. Washington.
The teenager has been taken to the Shands Jacksonville with life-threatening injuries.
JSO has not released his identity.
