JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A man wanted in a double shooting Monday has turned himself in.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, Andrew Simmons, 25, walked into a JSO station Tuesday morning.

JSO spokesperson Melissa Bujeda said 25-year-old Andrew Simmons was wanted for aggravated battery.

Police searched Monday night for the last vehicle Simmons was reported to be in, a white Chevrolet Impala with Mississippi plates. Two other men were in the car at the time of the shooting, Bujeda said.

At about 3 p.m. Monday afternoon someone fired shots at two men standing near a car on Bert Road, near the Arlington Expressway.

One of the victims died on the way to the hospital, according to JSO Sergeant Lonnie Mills, while the other man was in critical condition at last check.

The shooting occurred next to the Tadpoles and Toads Child Care Center.
