JACHSONVILLE, Fla. — An Arlington neighborhood is focused and on guard following the sexual attack of an 8-year-old girl early Monday evening that has had officers on location since the attack was called in.

A witnesses spotted the girl walking out of a wooded area in the 3100 block of North University Avenue which is directly across the street from Jacksonville University.

The girl is recovering at a local hospital. Police have not provided any details on suspect following an extensive search of the area on Tuesday.

In the apartments that border where police say the attack happened, residents have plenty to say.

"I know somebody knows about it, somebody knows something - knows something," said Stephanie Brown as she waited to catch a bus from the Eagle Pointe Apartments.

Down the street, a grandmother had a lot to say about what happened.

"Everybody on notice, we are looking," said Jannie McNair who held the hand of her grandchild.

"If anybody both with my grand kids, that's going to end of them. I will find them," said McNair, who moved to the Justina Road area from Ocala.

Anyone with information can call First Coast Crime Stoppers and remain anonymous and be eligible for a reward. The phone number is 1-866-845-8477.
