JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Police responded to a shooting in Arlington that sent a child to the hospital Monday night.

A 10-year-old girl was shot in the 2300 block of Rogero Road. Police are not sure if the incident occurred inside or outside of a home on the block, according to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Sgt. Bobby Lyle.

The child was taken to an area hospital for treatment after being shot in the lower half of her body shortly after 8 p.m., Sgt. Lyle detailed.

The circumstances around the shooting are unknown at this point in the investigation.
