Body Found in Woods in Regency Park

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating how a body ended up in the woods behind a townhouse in the Regency Park area.

It happened at Kendall Pointe Townhomes near the 9800 block of Hutchinson Park Drive around one o'clock Sunday. 

Officers tell First Coast News they found a man's body in the woods. They say there are no obvious signs of trauma, but they are continuing to investigate.

Credit Card Fraud Suspects in Regency Identified

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two women wanted for credit card fraud have been identified.

Friday afternoon, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office announced that the two women were caught on surveillance cameras and asked for help identifying them.

This morning, JSO said they have been identified, but police did not release their names or if they have been captured.

Hookah Bar Sued for Serving Minor Involved in Fatal Accident

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Ali Baba, a Jacksonville hookah bar, is being sued for serving an underage drinker who was involved in fatal car accident.

The crash happened just after midnight November 14, 2010.  Maida Sy, 19, had a 12:30 a.m. curfew.  Maida was on her way home and only minutes away when her car was hit, and she was killed.

Police arrested 20-year-old Robert Tofson.  He is charged with DUI and vehicular homicide.   

"Somebody knock(ed) on our door at four o'clock in the morning and the horrible thing is it's the policeman," said Nida Sy, Maida's mother.

Sy said her daughter was her best friend.  She said the 2010 Sandalwood High School graduate had big plans for her life.  She was studying to be a pharmacist.

Car Stolen on Central Pkwy Near Beach Blvd

UPDATE: The vehicle has been located and returned to the owner. The car was spotted in the World Golf Village area around 1:45p.m. The St Johns County Sheriff's Office responded and a juvenile suspect was taken into custody near the entrance to the Sevilla neighborhood. No damages to the vehicle were reported.

 

According to a viewer tip we received, a 2001 Tan Ford Explorer was stolen this morning from a parking lot on Central Parkway near Beach Blvd.

The tag of the vehicle is Florida P25 9TV. The vehicle also has a "Salt Life" decal on the rear window, along with a white "Apple" logo.

Suspect Sought in Connection With Best Buy Burglaries

Jacksonville Sheriff’s on Friday identified a suspect wanted in connection with a string of Best Buy burglaries.

According to JSO, 20-year-old Bryan Fidell Gilbert also known as, “Smoke Lotto,” allegedly is part of a group using a sledge hammer to break into Best Buy stores throughout the First Coast.
