Body of a Man Found Behind Westside Jacksonville Church
Crime

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Jacksonville Sheriff's Deputies are investigating the death of a man whose body was found behind an Arlington church.

J-S-O tells us that J-E-A workers at a facility behind Bethel light Church smelled an odor and called police.

When authorities arrived they found the body in the woods behind the church. At this time they do not know how the man died.

"We're in the preliminary stages of the investigation," said Sgt. Lonnie Mills with JSO Homicide.

"We don't see any obvious trauma to the body. It's probably just a natural but at the same time we want to be cautious so we'll treat it as a homicide until we can prove otherwise," Mills said.

Police do not know how long the man's body had been in the woods. They say the body was badly decomposed but that could be a result of the heat.
