The Small Business Development Center at UNF will present the Small Business Issues and Recommendations Forum on January 28, 2011 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm at the UNF University Center.  Small business owners from around Jacksonville are invited to participate so they can share their concerns and suggestions on improving the environment for small and medium-sized business expansion in Florida.

Country Star James Wesley Takes the Whisky River Stage Next Week

Country music fans in Jacksonville have more than just the George Straight concert to look forward to next week. Whisky River is gearing up for the Country Music Hall of Famer’s show by hosting the Official George Strait Warm-up Party headlined by James Wesley on Thursday night, January 27.

Wesley scored two songs on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart in 2010 – “Jackson Hole,” which peaked at No. 41, and “Real,” which reached No. 25 on the chart. Both singles will be on Real, Wesley’s first album on Broken Bow Records, which is slated for a March release. Previously Wesley was signed to Warner Bros. Records and released an album as James Prosser entitled Life Goes On in 1999.

BJ’s Charitable Foundation Donates $20,000 in Grants to Three Nonprofits in the Jacksonville Area

BJ’s Charitable Foundation announces today that it has donated $20,000 in grants among three local nonprofits: Community Connections, Hope Haven Association: Hope Haven Children's Clinic and Family Center, and Jewish Family & Community Services, Inc.  The recipients support the Foundation’s focus of providing basic need services in the areas of hunger prevention, self-sufficiency, health care, or education and primarily benefit needy children and families residing in the communities BJ’s Wholesale Club serves.

Jacksonville Weekly Gas Price Update Jan. 17

Jacksonville, January 17- Average retail gasoline prices in Jacksonville have risen 3.1 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $3.07/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has increased 0.9 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.07/g, according to gasoline price website JacksonvilleGasPrices.com.
