Mayor Alvin Brown Receiving Jacksonville University Beta Gamma Sigma Honoree Award

What:  Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown will receive the Jacksonville University Beta Gamma Sigma Honoree Award, given to those who have furthered the ideals of the BGS through outstanding business and managerial leadership.  Jacksonville University’s Davis College of Business is establishing a chapter of BGS, which will receive its charter and induct into BGS membership its top business students and professionals.

When and where: The induction, honoree and charter event and reception are at 2 p.m. Friday, March 2, in the Davis College of Business, Room 171 & 174 at Jacksonville University, 2800 University Blvd. N.

About the Honoree: Mayor Alvin Brown took office July 1, 2011. He ran on a vision of “taking Jacksonville to the next level” through job creation, downtown revitalization and making education and public safety top priorities. Mayor Brown graduated from Jacksonville University with a B.S. and an MBA. He also completed postgraduate work at the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. He received an honorary doctorate from Edward Waters College in Jacksonville.

About BGS: Jacksonville University’s Davis College of Business has recently achieved accreditation of its business programs by AACSB International. As a result, the school is establishing a chapter of Beta Gamma Sigma. It will receive its charter, honor the first BGS inductees and present the first BGS Honoree at the ceremony March 2. Only the best business students in the world, and the professionals who earned the distinction of “the Best in Business” during their academic careers, can claim membership in Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS).
